Okitsu Wase, a leading variety of the Japanese satsuma group, was developed in the 1940s as a derivative of the Miyagawa subspecies. Known for its slightly flattened shape, thin and easy-to-peel skin, and juicy, sweet flesh, it has become a staple in citrus production. The trees are vigorous and productive, with high juice content and excellent eating quality. While some fruits may contain a few seeds, the variety is generally regarded as seedless for consumers, making it highly attractive both for fresh consumption and export markets.
