Navelina is an early-ripening variety of the Navel group and is especially valued as one of the season’s first table oranges. Medium in size, the fruit is round to slightly oval, with a smooth, evenly colored orange peel of medium thickness. It is seedless or contains very few seeds, and the peel is easy to remove. The flesh is firm with low fiber, high juice content, and a sweet, aromatic flavor with a balanced sugar-acid ratio that suits consumer taste. Thanks to its early maturity, harvesting usually begins in mid-October and continues until the end of December. Even at early maturity, the peel is strong enough to withstand short- to medium-distance transportation. Highly popular for fresh consumption, Navelina is also well suited for fresh juice production due to its aromatic profile.
