Fukumoto, belonging to the Washington Navel group, is one of the earliest ripening Navel orange varieties. The fruit is round to slightly flattened, with a smooth, glossy peel of medium thickness and a deep reddish-orange color. Completely seedless, Fukumoto has an easy-to-peel skin and highly juicy, fiberless, aromatic flesh—making it a preferred choice for fresh consumption. Thanks to its early maturity, harvesting begins in late October to early November and continues through late December. Its flesh is sweet with a well-balanced sugar-acid ratio. While the thinner peel requires careful handling during transport, its ability to reach markets early in the season gives it high commercial value.
